About Uttar Pradesh :   The short name of Uttar Pradesh is U.P and It is considered as one of the most important tourist state of North India because of its geographical location and importance. It is surrounded by the important states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttrakhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and also connected by road up to Nepal. So now you got the answer why it is defined as the most important tourist state because it is the backbone and solo state of India which is helping Indian tourism industry for making popular tour programs and itineraries created for the tourists. The importance of Uttar Pradesh in Indian tourism industry you can judge by yourself after knowing the fact that it is crowned by the most popular monument in the world – Taj Mahal. Like every Indian state Uttar Pradesh is also a multi-religion and multi-lingual state and capital city of Uttar Pradesh is Lucknow - which also known as the City of Nawabs. Uttar Pradesh is known for its culture, historical importance, diversity, pilgrimage spots, dresses and cuisines which are famous not in India but all over the world.

Destinations of Uttar Pradesh :

Agra : Although Uttar Pradesh is full of tourist destinations and sites but the most important among all is Agra because of Taj Mahal – which is a UNESCO world heritage site and most beautiful monument in entire India. Apart from Taj you can also see Fort, Fatehpur Sirki, Itmad-Ud-Aulah (Baby Taj) and Sikandra Tomb in Agra. Agra is also famous for its sweet dish Petha which is quite phenomenal in taste and a special sweet to serve post meal. And if you are in Agra then don’t forget shopping here because you can get very good and cheap marble gift items to present your dear ones after going back to home country.

Varanasi : Is also known as Benaras and it is considered as one of the oldest civilization of the world. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre because of Kashi Vishwanath Temple & River Ganga and this is the reason why hindu devotees came here to perform their rituals and traditions after birth and death here. That is where Varanasi is different from other cities because here you can see the combination of birth & death. One side you can see the new born babies first hairs are offered to river Ganga and on the other side you can see the dead bodies of Hindus are cremated on Ghats. Benaras Hindu University here is the oldest University of India and ancient markets are famous for its silk sarees.
Allahabad: Is popular as the one of the most important Hindu Pilgrimage destination because it has Sangam where three important holy rivers of India Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati meeting together. It is on its peak when it host the most important Hindu festival Kumbha Mela which comes after every four years and millions of pilgrims and tourists comes here from all over the word to see this big event. Nearby attractions includes Ayodhya (Birth Place of Lord Rama), Varanasi etc.

Mathura & Vrindavan: Mathura is popular Hindu pilgrim point because it is the birth place of Lord Krishna. Here you can see some of the important places & temples like Birth Place of Lord Krishna, Banke Bihari Temple, Dwarikadish Temple and River Yamuna is going along with Mathura. Vrindavan is right with the Mathura and the combination of both these places making it a important destination.

Buddhist Sites : State of Uttar Pradesh is also has the most important Buddhist destinations like Sarnath (where lord Buddha perched his first sermon after enlightment), Kushinagar (where he attend the Mahaparinirwana – in simple the place where lord Buddha died), Sravasti, Sankassa, Kaushambi etc. Every year thousands of tourists from around the world come here to offer their devotion to Lord Buddha and the places remains important forever because of its pilgrim importance and some of the important UNESCO world heritage site.
